BSNL Landline plan rental charges now revised, Why?

BSNL Landline Plan Rental Charges revised now, at first time as slightly after the launch of unlimited free calling facility with out any extra charges. Many of the users are thinking that, this is a wrong decision by BSNL, but there are many reasons to decide this to plan with out giving any burden to BSNL Landline consumers to continue the free facilities for all Landline users.

BSNL is taking strategic, timely and need of the hour decisions, both Telecom Minister and CMD are there, backing BSNL to show its strengths, to make our own BSNL again a flag ship PSU of Brand India. In this regard BSNL is taking decisions where it will provide best service in the class and also not going to make losses.

BSNL is having above 36000 telephone exchanges, where in 28000 are located in Rural areas areas only, which are providing Voice and Broadband Internet facilities. For rural areas the capital cost and maintenance overheads are more. Do you agree or not. For example a small village will have an average of 10 to 15 landline connections or even in single digit, and for a Panchayat it will be around 100 to 150, where the perimeter is very very big with many kilometeres.
BSNL Landline Rental Charges
To maintain the rural telephony with landline exchange, it needs huge maintenance cost every month, it is very big burden for any telecom operator, BSNL is the only company which provides landline, and Landline along Broadband for Rural India having many special discounts. BSNL works for the society benefit rather than profit, but it is one of the factor which is making BSNL to go to doll drums, for this BSNL is just increasing Rs.20 per month of rental charge for maintaining the same.

In the same line, to keep life for the rural telephony BSNL has just hiked monthly rental charges in PAN India of existing BSNL Landline Plans with respect to inflation from Rs.120 to Rs 140, and 140 to 160 in Rural area, for urban area it is from Rs.160 to 180 by allowing free calls too from Landline applicable with in BSNL Network, and also by continuing the unlimited free call facility from BSNL Landline to any network mobile and landline with in India between 9PM to 7AM without any extra charges having following tariff.
BSNL Landline Monthly Charges for Rural and Urban
The new increased charges for BSNL Rural and Urban Landline are very marginal, if you see the prices rising pattern in present situations, BSNL has taken this decision very lately. To maintain a connection in rural places, BSNL has to spend around 4 to 5 times more amount than the collecting monthly rent, even with huge losses at many rural areas, BSNL wants rural areas to be connected with “Hello”, so it is maintaining the connections with Service Motto.

BSNL is the only company to give telephone services to rural India. So, as BSNL is giving services, we should encourage BSNL in all the ways. At the same time we should expect the best service from BSNL, which you definitely going to get. In near future all the BSNL exchanges are going to be migrated to Next Generation Network (NGN), and also BSNL recently introduced many flexible and affordable lowest tariff BSNL Broadband Plans according with that area required conditions.

Considering with all these above said points, BSNL has taken the right decision to hike a little bit on BSNL Landline Plan monthly rental charges of Rural and Urban India from 01.11.2015 without giving burden for Indian consumer pockets by continuing the BSNL unlimited free call.

Why this type of wrong decisions are being taken by BSNL authority? This move will definitely increase the landline surrender.

    1. When the inflation is increasing like anything which almost doubled in the last five years, the very slight increase in the cost of rental is highly justified.

    2. certainly not it all ur prespective only , there are many users who are rejoiced by this facility for useful purposes...

  2. In the competitive economy BSNL should not burden urban customer. Urban customer has power to switch over to other Provider. I suspect this new plan is to facilitate private Companies to flourish

    1. I agree in to-to. The strategies now played by BSNL is with the intentions to facilitate private companies. I suspect this is through under hand dealings locally too. I fail to understand why BSNL at local levels fail to provide the speed claimed by them whereas the P companies are able to keep their promises.

  3. I think the decission will create no major impact on the consumer because of its just utility. But at the same time, BSNL should assure the consumers of Non-intarruptive service . And the portal must be more convenient, like showing Balance, expiary date in Pre paid mobile as before which is available not now.

  5. Bad decision. Anyway I have already surrendered the landline 15 days back. Private player are giving good facility with an top up of Rs.99/- you can make unlimited call to both landline and mobiles 24hrs an day. Service is also very very poor and no responsible to answer at any BSNL office.

  6. Already rural population have numerous govt schemes for their flourishment along with subsidies. Further here for sustaining PSU are lending hands...

But... Kudos for the gain from marginal changes.

But, bsnl needs to update the urban population too for non,-congesant network and connectivity..

    All the best BSNL

  7. Marginal increase in monthly rental. It is OK. But BSNL should make the Landline service. Uninterrupted. And also insure better customer service at their Telephone Exchanges. BSNL should provide latest plan information available at all the rural and urban Telephone Exchanges and also to the staffs.
    All the best BSNL.

  8. A huge financial burden. Not wise to increase the rental at this moment when cost of every grocery items are soaring high. The existing customers may be forced to change their minds to switch over to other pocket friendly schemes available in the competitive market of our country.

  9. BSNL is not ready to serve Public at Low cost. Because it is also preparing P&L Account. It is not Government.

    1. GOI is also a company preparing P&L.
GOI is working for corporates by corporates , reducing corporate tax 5% (i.e goi's highest earning part) and increased service tax to 14% which is paid by each indian from richer to poorer.
      the great namo govt.

  10. Services of BSNL are very poor in comparison to others . For their goodwill B S N L must reduce the charges and arrange to provide good and promt service

  11. The current hike is very much required considering the huge expenditure involved in maintaining the landline business. This is the reason that most of the telecom operator desist from entering in to landline business and prefer wireless.
But, being a PSU, BSNL has no choice but to take care the policy of the government about welfare of the people across the country with its own business. So, the small increase is justified and people of the country will support it.

  12. Right way to go profit , one more thing to need is free 24 hrs calling in bsnl network on any phone boost the connection growth

  13. This is one more arrow shot at BSNL to ground it just like Air india thanks to the nexus of Govt, private players and the invisible communist unions, which shield many non working field staff, non owning ITS management physically not under the control of its CMD. The company has been infected intentionally by successive govts. One need to treat a patient and not to do make up on him to pose him as healthy. The giant is made to fall as prey to the nexus.

  14. light increase in tariff is of but we want quality , uninterruped service.at the same time without further increasing the tariff BSNL should increase the existing speed of internet for all plans which bsnl only can do it.

  15. BSNL should make "free calls" on all networks instead of only on its own network.....i think it will also help to retain or just stop disconnecting its landline base.Increasing rental is ok but it should give more calling i.e. more free calls on all networks instead of only on their own .
