    1. Bsnl only con's the public. I had the experience of using ACT Broadband in Bangalore for a few months and found the service outstanding and exhiliarting. ACT is real Broadband, not this FUP stuff that bsnl cons public with. When are they going to wake up and realize that they are losing a sizeable market share because they act and think like buffaloes, instead of being like tigers and going aggressively after the consumer with great offers, especailly with the network they enjoy. Whole of bsnl needs a shakeup. i had a conversation with a bsnl engineer & he told me most of the equipment was obsolete!!!! More so in the rural areas, smaller cities the service sucks.

    2. Perfectly said. FUP is a real con. Now we're asked to go ahead and add as much GB as we require, which comes in the next bill, along with the service tax!!! What a ripoff. All the high speed plans are a ripoff with FUP limitations. As another reader said, if BEAM (ACT) can do it in Hyderabad, why can't BSNL match them? Equipment overhaul is not the only issue, it is an issue of a monolithic organization which has just grown to elephantine size with no improvement in QOS (quality of service). Customer service is pathetic, half the staff have no clue what these new plans are, & worse still, no clue as to what the competition is doing. Why would they care, salaries are ensured whatever happens, they have no worries in life but keep cribbing all the time how unfortunate they are. Not of hoopla now over the new BSNL honcho going to radicalize things. Nothing will really change except their salaries, trust me!!! If they are going to improve, they have to pack up all the redundant +40 babus with VRS and start hire young talented professionals (management and engineering) to run things with a good package offered plus growth schemes. You think their unions will allow that? Hah, hah. As i said, nothing will change.

  10. I took the 100/- 2gb top up, and I think I expired it, but the speed is still at fup and I've got no pop up for reapplying it, so has it been reapplied by itself or have I not exhausted it. P.S. i'm a heavy internet user but my parents won't give me extra money for the bill and will rather cut the internet connection.

  11. The Popup appeared and I didnt topup anything, Since I thought its suspicious..And i continued with low speed[My orginal Plan ULD 950/Mnth].. Now I like to use the 500 topup...     I am using BSNL BB Home Combo ULD 800 plan.

    I also got the Upgrade popup, but i selected low speed option and did not restarted the Modem,

    Now, i want to know whether i am in Low speed or upgrade option. There is no proper response from BSNL customer care.

    I have registered in BSNL Self care portal.

    Is there any way to find out whether i am in Low speed or upgrade option in self care portal ?

  19. if your broadband wifi is compromised anyone can just click topups as many times without your concern. Moral of the story, you have to pay the whopping amount without your knowledge of when you approved the topup.. silly isn't.

    1. u are having unlimited plan only, after ur data usage exceeds with FUP of 512Kbps. for that Broadband TOPUP introduced to restore high speed (4Mbps), if you not accept this, simply decline and switch off/on the modem once.

    1. It is Postpaid Service, after your FUP Limit crossed in Unlimited, a POP UP will automatically appear to accept or disagree. if it is activated speed automatically increased as previous, TOPUP amounts will be charged in next bill

  26. my top up limit has been finished . i had done a top up of rupees 500 for 20 gb.
    and after checking ofn self portal i saw i have used 30 gb still my speed has not downgraded to 512 kbs
    its still 6 mbps.
    will bsnl charge extra for this , or after the top up is finished the speed will downgrade and there will be no extra charges
    can anybody who has done top up and received the bill with top up done throw light on this

  27. i just got the pop up today saying i exhausted my limit...just before i got the pop up i noticed internet was slow and not connecting to sites... i recharged for 10 GB at Rs. 300 and afterwards i restarted modem...it worked...same great speed...

  29. after crossing my limit i opted to another 20gb @500 Rs. But from yesterday morning onwards, after downloading only around 6gb the speed was reduced to lower levels .i have complained at local bsnl offfice this morning and they said it will be resumed by noon but still after6.30 p.m it isn't corrected.and tomorrow second saturday, and the day after tommorrow sunday, so there is no chance to do anything and all of my work planned to do on holiday is spoiled. very bad.

    1. dont worry, this may BSNL problem, after your TOPUP for 2GB high speed data, speed will automatically be reduced, but it is not. if you click on this link only onetime, it will reflect only one time.

  36. I just exceeded my so called unlimited plan. BSNL prompts for top-up. I select the top-up. Cannot submit request as

    2. I continously get an error saying my request cannot be processed.
    What sort of crappy developers are they hiring to develop their website? So many techies in India and they have a talent to find idiots to do the job.

    We should do away with lazy ass BSNL altogether. Why are they in the service industry, if they cannot provide a simple ISP service.

Please help me, I have a doubt.I had exceeded my Fare Usage Limit 1 hour back.The pop up window appeared and I accidently clicked the Upgrade(extend browsing with high speed) button.However from there on I did not proceed.I just went back and clicked on the DECLINE(browsing with low speed option).It asked me to reset my modem so I closed the pop up window and reset my modem.The pop window disappeared and I continued browsing.The speed of my inernet hadn't seem to have gone down one bit.Now I am worried that I might be charged extra in the next month's bill because I am not sure if a top up actually happened or not.

    Just to make sure that I haven't accidently done a top up could any of you who have actually done a pop up tell me the answers to my following doubts:
    1)Will the top up automatically get activated if you click on the UPGRADE link at the beginning of the pop up window or do you have to select exactly what top up you want and only then it will get activated?

    2)Do you get kind of confirmation stating that you have selected so and so top up and have been charged so and so amount.

    3)If confirmation is there could someone kindly give a screen shot link of the confirmation message showing that you have paid so and so amount?

    1. Don't worry, after a click on upgrade link, you will get the plans then after confirming that only, you will be charged. but in this, you have backed after upgrade option, so be happy.

    SOLUTION TO TOP UP QUERIES

    I have seen many queries regarding Top Ups, solutions are listed (covers most of them)

    1. You declined the request but you want to top up now for higher speeds.
    Ans: It is possible and I have done it. All you need is YOUR url link (copy paste of other won't work as they are not connected to your connection). If not bookmarked, then go to browser history and search for the link (remember to type keywords on top) and bookmark it for future use. Open that link, select high speed, click on proceed with top ups. There you will see you username with bsnl id (sample-> username@bsnl.co.in) below that you can see the amount of GB/MB/KB's left. On right side you will find an option "Add Bytes" select that and choose your top up plan. To verify is in next answer.

    2. How to check you Usage?
    Ans: Open the top up page as explain in previous answer. Check where your username is visible. Below that it will display the amount of data left with you in your plan. You can top up at the same time before it expires. It will be shown during next time you repeat the same procedure.
    This is a better method that bsnl portal, because portal is updated on daily basis, hence you can get you usage only till the previous date and that too in bits and pieces of 30 mins. So, you have to add all the data used to get the exactly value which is a hectic procedure. Worth giving a shot if you are free.

The reading on router meter and BSNL portal will never match. In fact there is a vast difference in the reading. e.g. when netgear shows 10 GB BSNL portal already crossed 20GB limit. I am raised this issue with BSNL as well as Netgear.

  52. Even I felt the same, I also have the netgear router & BSNL almost reading too fast. BSNL people should look into this issue. Also world is at 200 mbps speed atlease BSNL should give unlimited flat speed of 1 mbps. There is no such plans in Ahmedabad. BSNL PLEASE PROVIDE PLANS FOR FLAT SPEED 1 MBPS(UNLIMITED)...PLEASE...

  53. I declined their message of upgrading the speed but still I'm getting 400-800 KBPS. before declining their message my normal broadband speed was 50-60 KBPS.
    I think they will charge me for this I never clicked on UPGRADE.
    Anyone know what should I do now?

  58. someone plz help me! yesterday i was using my laptop and a message pop up and said u have completed ur 30gb of usage so i went for upgrade and 5gb...i restarted the modem and my speed is back! after completing the 5gb will i get the pop up again>?? or it will reduce by itself to lower speed??

  59. Aug 2016 month my bsnl bill is 3000. Firstly i thought it is system error or something . when i contacted them they said i did topup of 20GB 4 times. ie, 4*500 = 2000. I dont know who did recharge from connection. My many friends used to connect from my home connection. Is there any way to protect this topup recharge by some other password authentication other than wifi password ?
