  1. Sir, I am planning to take BBG Speed Combo 1745 VDSL connection. I am planning to buy TP-LINK TD-W8961ND 300Mbps ADSL2+ Wireless with ModemRouter to access this connection. Since the max. speed for 1745 plan is upto 8mbps. So, Can I use TP-LINK TD-W8961ND 300Mbps ADSL2+ Wireless with ModemRouter to access the VDSL 1745 BSNL connection? I could not find answer for this question anywhere. Could you pls help.

    Thanks,
    Raj

    1. yes, you can happily use the existing 300Mbps ADSL2+ Wireless Modem to access the VDSL 1745 BSNL connection, VDSL connection supports minimum of 8Mbps speed, so if you have morethan that supported speed modems, u can use it.

    2. Sir, Thanks for your quick reply. I stay in Karur, Tamilnadu and when I enquired about ADSL/VDSL connection in BSNL office, there are technically not sure about what it is. They said they will give VDSL 1745 BSNL connection. I have read that the end customer should be within 1.5 km from the Exchange if we need to use VDSL connection. The BSNL office is saying that connection wires are same as ADSL normal broadband connection. My office distance is more than 1.5 km. In this case, do I need to go for VDSL 1745 BSNL connection? Or, can I go with 1800 plan (normal ADSL broadband)? Could you pls help?

      Thanks,
      Raj

    3. Another question I have is, I have read that VDSL modem supports ADSL connection. Does it also mean that ADSL2+ supports VDSL as input? Will 300Mbps ADSL2+ modem accept the input as VDSL BB connection? I am not sure about the compatibility issues. Could you pls let me know?

      Thanks,
      Raj

    4. Technically, if the distance is above 1.5kms from exchange equipment, then the speed will reduce due to so many joints and length of copper cable, so better to avoid VDSL if above 1.5kms, and it is suggested to opt for normal ADSL plans which supports high speed plans.

in olden days, ADSL modems supports upto 8Mbps speed only, so that VDSL introduced with minimum of 8Mbps, but now many ADSL modems are supporting 100-300Mbps also, so ADSL modems also supports VDSL connections if that modem supports above 8Mbps bandwidth.

  6. i just now order vdsl plan 3245 . 24 mbps my question is what is the upload speed

    1. The best way to check your upload speed is by doing an online speed test, after BSNL hooks you up, okay. Once you're online, go to www.speedtest.net and check your speed, it will give you a 100% reliable upload/download speed. Trust me, I was in IT for 20, yrs so I know what I'm talking about. But also my friend, I do hope you have a modem which can handle that kind of speed. Is BSNL giving you a modem? Hope you're not too far away from the exchange too.

  7. When I contact bsnl staff for vdsl plans they abruptly reply to me that it is not feasible to get the mentioned speed level. So I'm ready to for the poor service quality then you can go for this plan. They also need affirmation that I should complain about slower speeds.

What is the solution for this problem. My office is 500 meters away the local area exchange.

  9. Are VDSL Plans available for Jharkhand(Ranchi)?

And do I need a VDSL router for a VDSL plan or my iball Baton 150M+ ADSL2 Wireless router work?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You will need a VDSL router for using a VDSL connection.
The one provided by BSNL is very basic kind of modem and you cannot even set it in "Always ON" mode. You will need a WAN dialer or a PC to dial if you take modem from BSNL. As alternatives, iBaton offers VDSL router with many advanced features at around 4000-5000 INR online. You will need to take free support over Team Viewer for them to configure the connection for you. For this, you will temporarily need to have an alternate connection in your system. Further, you should also remember that your ADSL broadband will stop functioning as soon as the system is changed to VDSL from the exchange.

  15. I have changed from BBG Combo uld 1495 (@ 4 mbps ) to plan BBG Combo uld 1745 which offers 8 mbps max. Whether my existing Adsl2+ modem will support this new vdsl plan to give me speed upto 8 mbps? My existing modem statistics indicate that maximum attainable speed is 8 mbps but actual speed has not changed from earlier about 3.5 mbps. Whether some setting change is required to jump to the speed upto 8 mbps? or whether modem will need to be changed vdsl modem?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yes, well, after some setting changes by bsnl exchange, now my same old Adsl modem is able to fetch speed upto 6 mbps on my new 8 mbps vdsl plan. Modem statistic is showing that it is now set at 8 mbps speed. It means no need to buy separate vdsl modem for vdsl plan of 8 mbps. Old adsl modem is able to work on new vdsl plan of 8 mbps.
