All BSNL SIMs are 3G SIMs with No Speed Restriction for Internet Data Services

As we all know that, BSNL has recently migrated all the existing 2G Data subscribers to 3G Data Services with no speed restriction for Internet Data and elaboration of 3G persisting with transition of time, on the eve of Independence Day of India. BSNL heralded extreme and rigorous diminution in 3G Data Services on promoting the business and offering more services to customers.
No Speed Restriction for Internet Data Services
Many Customers of Prepaid and Postpaid Mobile Services are in confusion about their high speed data services, if the high speed data is applicable to their 2G Plans or not, for all these more confusions, BSNL mobile subscribers has to be clarified as follows
At present all BSNL SIMs are 3G SIMs. The distinction about 3G and 2G is made while creating a number in the BSNL database as of 14-08-2013, from 15-08-2013 BSNL has migrated all prepaid and postpaid mobile number customers as 3G users.
All SIMs having memory of 16K, 32K, 64K, 128K or 256K can be configured as 3G and work with performance at par, The SIM with memory capacity of 128K or 256K are needed in few cases where the use of SIM is required to be made for M2M kind of communication needing large size of application to reside inside SIM.
So, by this new migration done by BSNL, all mobile customers has allowed to enjoy the internet speed with 3G Data Services if they are in 3G Coverage area, even they use 2G SIM Card.

BSNL redeveloped its lasting Prepaid Data Tariff by enabling all the subscribers with 3G DATA facility, which will be in force from 15th August 2013 and Postpaid DATA structure from 01-09-2013 with no speed restriction for Data.

BSNL has already providing PAN India Free Roaming for data services, and also by this new introduction of new uniform Prepaid and Postpaid Data Packs at lowest rates, will helps the customer to download and surf the internet with high speed data and having no restriction for data in Home area or in Roaming across the country.

  9. Hi, I have a 2G SIM (Andhra Pradesh). I contacted BSNL office regarding migration from 2G to 3G. They said, I need to send an SMS "M3G120" to 53733 and after receiving confirmation message from BSNL, I again need to send "M3G120Y". I did the same. But so far I didnt't get any confirmation stating that my SIM is migrated from 2G to 3G. They said it will take max 24hrs. But as on today its more than 3 days. How can I know whether my SIM is migrated or not?

    1. this is not required, all are already migrated to high speed data services, so insert your SIM in 3G mobile and enable only 3G/WCDMA/UMTS mode for data and check the services in 3G signal area for 3G services

  14. A friend of mine told me that BSNL doesn't differentiates between 2G & 3G , i.e., there are no data-recharge based on 2G or 3G, i.e., customer recharges with an STV for data and he gets 3G speeds if he is in a 3G-coverage area else he gets 2G speeds....... He is from Chhattisgarh , he says that there is only 3G data service for mobile-broadband in case of BSNL.

    1. H means High Speed Data, you are getting, that means there is no problem with your network, and ur Karbon Mobile also supports this, but there may be a reason that, your background apps are killing your data speed on updating, so try to stop all the apps and clear your cache of browsers on your android device and check the speed.

    2. What is the difference between SIM and USIM cards?
      SIM cards (Subscriber Identity Module) are used to communicate on GSM networks. With the introduction of UMTS or 3G, it's highly recommended to use a USIM card to access UMTS network. Although it's possible to access it with a simple SIM card, the USIM have many advantages as compared to the SIM:

      • A USIM is a tiny computer which is able to handle several mini applications, for instance a contactless e-purse for the subway, a local service portal giving you access to your phone bill, etc;

      • A 3G (UMTS) handset equipped with a USIM card can be used to make video calls, assuming the calling area is covered by a 3G network;

      • Regarding security, a new algorithm is integrated (it's derived from recent researches in cryptology). It allows to protect you from unauthorized access to your phone line, and therefore to be charged with fraudulent calls on your bill;

      • Your calls and data exchanges are encrypted using keys computed by the USIM, and these keys are stronger than those provided by SIMs.

      • The phonebook is much bigger on the USIM, allowing thousands of contacts (instead of a maximum of 255 in a SIM). Each USIM contact is also richer, for instance it can contain email addresses, a second or third phone number, etc;

      • Contacts in the USIM are stored much more securely on the USIM as compared to using the phone memory.
