Value Added Services(VAS) Centralised De-Activation Common Procedure

India’s Telecom Regulatory Authority of India(TRAI) on discussions held with all Telecom Operators, it has been decided to use DOT prescribed number 155223 for un-subscribing of Voice as well as for SMS based Value Added Services(VAS).

It has been also decided to follow common procedure across all Telecom Operators for un-subscription of Value Added Services(VAS) and TRAI desires the implementation for SMS based arrangement by 1st February 2013 and for IVR based deactivation procedure by 28th February 2013. 

Deactivation Procedure through SMS 
Customer will send SMS with key word STOP to toll free short code 155223 for deactivation of VAS available to him/ her. Even if, the customer sends blank SMS to such short code, it is presumed to be a request for de-activation of VAS. 

On receipt of SMS from the customer, the server will pick up sequence number and name of the VAS available to the customer and send a response asking to press number of the Value Added Services(VAS), which he/ she wants to de-activate. 

Example:- The message may be like "Please type 1 for Tunes, type 2 for Jokes, type 3 for TV or type 0 for all by sending SMS to 155223 for de-activation".

On receipt of option SMS from the customer, the particular Valued Added Services will be deactivated with in a short time.

  1. STOP to 155223 is not working for prepaid service and I also got charged Rs.5 for the SMS. Multiple STOP requests over a period of time just returned that no VAS was active while in the name of Mobizine Kannada Rs.10 is cut every 10 days from my account.

  6. Recently all my talktime balance of more than Rs. 170 was deducted. This is the second time. earlier I was deucted Rs. 70. Just wonder why a reputed Govt undertaking like BSNL has to cheat the prepaid customers.

    1. make a complaint at 18001801503 about deduction or approach nearest BSNL office for enquiry about deduction, there is no use about discussing, so try to find the problem and clear it as soon as possible

  8. First bsnl subscribed me to some backup service and charged me 100 rs without me knowing. Now they subscribed me to some mobizine and I have lost 90 rupees already. They don't even send a warning message. Thy just charge you straight. Sending STOP to 155223 doesn't work. They don't send you any list. They just keep charging you. I've never sent any requests from my phone and this is very unsettling. I wish to opt out of bsnl if this issue is not addressed. I wish I could take this issue to the consumer court. This has caused me great disappointment.

Stop Autoupdate of Apps in your mobile and read any message clearly when it comes, because in any telecom company, VAS doesnot activate automatically, VAS servers will activate the service after the request done from paerticular mobile. so be carefull about the message and dial 155223 for deactivation of any type of Value Added Services

  9. I have sent the message stop to 155223 and i got a reply that there are no value added services from your number. But still rs 30/- is being deducted from my account in the name of video services where as i havnt subscribed for it. Pls suggest me how to stop this.. I am being charged for no reason

  10. i am having same problem and being harrased by the mjokes 10, jokes pack and mjokes 3 everytime i deactivate it it sends back that it will renewed on a specific date and again it cuts my balance.though i haven't activated it but then also jokes pack comes and again cuts my balance. i am fed up of it. can any one give me any remedy? NOTE:155223 is not helpful and always tells to start DND process

  11. hopless bsnl service. they give wat we dont require n when we ask for what we need they simply shift their responsibility. what the hell is this ya????? we watch cricket live n so whats d need to activate cricket update service. this is nonesense. plse kno ur responsibility in d service of ur costomer.

  12. how a service could start charging Rs 7/week in totally unauthorized way? Job Alert Service from 59000 is charging me Rs 7 twice a week!!! Following advice of BSNL teleservice i sent sms "STOP" to 155223 - but no reply came. Please anybody help.

    Even though I have deactivated VAS throgh 155223,Dr.Health 3 pack is deducting Rs3 per 3day for more than 3 months from my BSNL mobile 9445620293.On 23.5.14 I have personally complained with Kodambakkam Customer Care and got the docket No.4E23CH381964 and I got the message that the complaint has been attended.But on 27.5.14 again Dr.Health pack deducted Rs3.Can
    BSNL help?

  15. bsnl is currently providing the worst servise to customers. my brother is using other network and they refunded the money they took...bsnl is clearly cheating the customers. they are activating VAS without the knowledge of customers and charging money according to their wish...what a shame!!!
