    7. I Have Bsnl Broadband and modem is on rent from past 5 Years its on rent. A month back I started facing problem with the modem and went to bsnl office for an exchange.
I got an Answer saying "They have stopped manufacturing BSNL Wifi Modems and we cant exchange. You have to surrender your modem and change your plan from rental to purchase." This information was given in K.R. Puram office. They also showed me a list of people who have changed their plan and indicated that I would be not the first person to change it.

    8. Same problem...BSNL charged rent for more than 4 years under the scheme of free replacement in case of modem failure but now insisting to buy new modem. Surprisingly the reason provided is "No stock" but their agents have good links for purchasing one....Looks like another scam to be unearthed.....Registered complaints are being closed without addressing the same....BSNL on its downturn in a highly competitive market!

Please clarify whether the existing modem needs to be replaced? If yes, which type is better with Wi-Fi facility? Whether we need to use only BSNL provided/recommended Modems only or can purchase any other Modem? If new Modem needs to be used, whether it require configuration to be made? Recently, I had lodged a complaint with BSNL. However, the line men is ill trained or he does not have the knowledge about why the speed is slow. It is better the BSNL provide proper training to its personnel and be customer friendly in this age of high competition from pvt.sector. Will the concerned authority look into the above problem?

  72. Is BSNL trying heart and soul to lose the customers of Broadband having modems on rent ? From the concept of raising the rentas it emerhges that BSNL takes tariff hike decisions without any market survey.
Three cheers for BSNL management who think they can thrive without retail customers.

Now suddenly in a month they have decided to charge Rs 110 monthly rent, arbitrarily. Well, will they give us an option to purchase that old existing modem instead, at a depreciated price (2yr old)?
